LIGHT HEART COLLECTIVE

Our mission is to promote, inspire and support creativity in the South West region

Light Heart Collective started life a studio space in Vasse, a space designed to be a hub by and for creatives in the local community where people could learn, share and create. This first year saw Light Heart Collective host a large range of workshops including watercolour, portraiture, drawing, creative kids, basket making, joy journalling, loom weaving, butterfly domes, life drawing group and more. There was an art club, a Creative Podcast and an artist studio space. This was all powered by Sarah Roberts and Kirsty Wyatt.

It was an intense flurry of activity, fuelled by determination and the inspiration that comes from working in your passion as well as many happy dances and plenty of tea cups full of bubbles! Amongst all of this, the most consistent feedback we received was that people loved the opportunity of coming together to create, to step out of their comfort zone in a safe space, to be recognised as a creative and to enjoy the process. Then came time for review and refinement. The (difficult) decision was made to close the physical space and to tweak the Light Heart Collective offering.

This new phase sees a refined mission to promote, inspire and support creativity in the South West.

We have a dedicated Creative Workshop Directory which aims to support artists and creatives in the South West by listing all the creative workshops available in the area. As part of that offering we also promote artists and their workshops to a wide audience and Sarah works to maximise opportunities and keep abreast of everything creative in the South West.

We no longer have a dedicated studio space but Sarah still offers pop-up and custom workshops in basket making, macrame & loom weaving. Sarah also offers support to artists and creatives. And Sarah & Kirsty continue to shine the light on South West artists & creatives through the Light Heart Collective Podcast.

Sarah Roberts

Sarah has always been involved in some way in the creative world and for many years has found pleasure in making and creating things. Another of her life’s loves are the moments of shared experiences that we can experience in any number of situations. She loves that moment just before the curtain raises in the theatre when she knows there is all sorts of things happening behind the scenes and there is the noise of the audience’s anticipation. She loves the way an artist’s mind can brim with ideas. She loves the sound of a busy restaurant. She loves turning around at a movie or performance to see everyone’s faces tilted toward the stage or screen. She loves dancing with strangers at live music events. She loves that sometimes all people need is a little push to get the impetus to do something that they love. She loves the stories that often lie behind what shapes and drives people. She believes that all of us have a story that lights us up and that most of us just want to be heard.

Sarah has a degree in Arts Management from WAAPA and has also spent time lecturing & facilitating. She is a great administrator and organiser and believes that the creative industries and small businesses work best when they support each other. Sarah is also a keen maker having taught basket making, macrame and loom weaving over time as well as being eager to try any number of different creative making activities just to enjoy the process. It is these key skills and experiences that come together at Light Heart Collective.
