Our aim with the Creative Podcast is to provide an intimate experience, a front-row seat to the artist’s mind, allowing our listeners to immerse themselves in the creative story. Every episode is an invitation to sit in on a conversation so real and raw that it is like you are sitting right there in the studio or workshop yourself. Whether it is painters, sculptors, photographers or any other form of creative expression, we seek out the local talent that breathes life into our community.

We explore their backgrounds, their inspirations, their triumphs and their challenges. We will try to uncover the stories behind their creations, the passion that fuels their souls and the unique perspectives that make the creative landscape in the South West of Western Australia so vibrant.

In this episode, we introduce ourselves and give you an insight into how we got here, why we’re here and what our goals are for this podcast.

We aim to provide real conversations with other fabulous creatives in our beautiful corner of the world: the Southwest of Western Australia. We want you to feel like you’re there with us, so nothing is scripted! What you hear is us being our authentic (and extra) selves.

Episode 2: Swashbuckling Pirates, Sailors and Ceramics: An Adventurous Interview with Georgia Zoric.

In this episode, Sarah and Kirsty chat with Georgia Zoric; a Ceramic artist who creates the most amazing characters full of soul and history, and who made her huge debut at Margaret River Region Open Studios in 2022. They delve into Georgia’s story with humour and excitement and discuss all things creative whilst sitting in Gerogia’s stunning studio.

Episode 3: Exploring Earth’s Palette and Connecting to Culture: An insightful and contemplative chat with printmaker Franceso Geronazzo.

In this episode, Sarah and Kirsty chat with Margaret River Printmaker, Francesco Geronazzo. Frank’s expansive experience and knowledge about printmaking is a delight to listen to and our creative conversation delves into the world of balancing being a creative and developing and maintaining a creative community.

In this episode, Sarah and Kirsty chat with renowned South West Artist, Roslyn Hamdorf in her studio on the water. Listen in as they talk about tolls to increase or maintain your creativity and have fun while you’re doing it. This episode is full of humour, insights and authenticity – with the main message being “just be yourself”.

Ros creates the most beautiful landscapes inspired by the world around her; full of colour, texture and heart. Ros is a seasoned participant in the Margaret River Region Open Studios, and is busy preparing for her exhibition and looks forward to inviting you all into her studio.

Episode 5: Photography, A-Frames and Love Letters to Ukraine: An honest and humorous chat with Bianca Todd.

In this episode, Kirsty and Sarah chat with the wonderful Bianca Todd; an uber talented photographer who took the wedding world by storm. We delve behind-the-scenes into what lengths a Photographer will go to in order to create the perfect snap. We also discuss Bianca’s creative journey and how she stays inspired. Expect lots of humber and raw honesty, which will make you love Bianca event more!

Episode 6: Tooting Trains, Collage and Mountains: A heartfelt and creative interview with Fi Wilkie.

In this episode, Sarah and Kirsty chat with the wonderful Fi Wilkie in her studio set in the most beautiful landscape full of trees, banksias and heritage railways. Listin in as they chat about Fi’s journey to becoming a full-time artists and how to overcome the moutnains that we all face in life.

Fi creates the most magical paper collage full of texture, colour, and above all, human story. Episode 7: Storytelling, Womanhood and Intuition: An inspiring and love-filled interview with Cassandra Bynder.

In this episode, Sarah and Kirsty chat with the fantastically talented Cassandra Bynder; an artist breaking into the local art scene with fire, heart and soul. Listen in as they talk about Cassandra’s journey to becoming an artist known for her heartfelt and emotive paintings and how she maintains her creativity whilst balancing family life. Cassandra works predominantly in acrylic and oil and is a sorceress at weaving story, colour and texture together. Cassandra is a featured artist for Margaret River Region Open Studio and is busy preparing for her debut, so listen along and pencil in her studio into your MRROS calendars.

Episode 8: Landscapes, Collaborations and Stormtroopers: A humble interview with Christian Fletcher.

In this episode, Sarah and Kirsty chat with award winning photographer Christian Fletcher in his amazing gallery in Dunsborough. They delve into Christian’s story with humour and honesty and discuss his journey towards being the prolific artist that the down south community adore. Christian is working hard in the background with 26 local artists for his collaborative exhibition as part of Margaret River Region Open Studios -n you don’t want to miss this!

Episode 9: Colour, Dancing Shadows and Life: A raw and open chat with renowned artist Wanda Comrie.

We’re back after a little break! We took some time out to enjoy the amazing offerings during the Margaret River Region Open Studios, but we are so happy to come back with a bang! We chat in this episode with Wanda Comrie; a delightful and humble human who has taken Instagram and the art world by storm. Wanda’s work is full of life, colour, dancing light and funky ceramics! We chat with Wanda in her purpose build studio on the second floor of her home, overlooking her native Australian garden – ah, bliss! Enjoy everyone, you’ll love her as much as we do.
