Felting with Matisse and Barbara Weeks

  • Busselton Cultural Precinct Fodder Room 4 Queen Street Busselton, WA, 6280 Australia (map)

Inspired by Matisse's paper Cut Outs, we will work with prepared prefelts to cut, layer and wet felt our chosen motifs. A choice of forms are possible.

A relaxing, meditative morning. Working only with wool and soap, super eco-friendly.

Barbara moved to Geographe Bay in 2019 after a long career teaching Design and Craft Courses in Textiles in the UK, and internationally.

The natural environment of the South West provides endless inspiration, the coastlines, geology and ancient forests . Currently, her quilts inspired by a trip to Lake Ballard are touring WA with 'Stitched and Bound' and Australia Wide with the OZQuilt Network.

Barbara is passionate about Australian Merino wool and the felt making process. Only soap and water to transform fibres into cloth, magical. She loves to share this ancient craft which offers endless creativity and a meditative experience.
